Aperture & Co. started as a single borrowed enlarger in a converted closet. Nine years later, it's still run the same way — carefully, and one roll at a time.
Our Philosophy
Consistency over convenience
Automated mini-labs batch-correct colour across an entire roll at once. We don't. Every frame gets looked at by a person before it's delivered — which is slower, and why our clients come back.
How we got here
2016
Marguerite starts developing friends' rolls out of a converted apartment closet in Portland.
2019
Aperture & Co. opens its first public darkroom on Halide Lane, with room for member rentals.
2022
A dedicated scanning room opens, bringing frame-by-frame 4000dpi scans in-house.
2026
Nationwide mail-in service makes the darkroom accessible outside Portland for the first time.
